About AWANA AWANA as an Organization Awana helps churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. Based in the Chicago area, Awana is the only organization with fully integrated evangelism and discipleship programs for ages 2 to 18 that actively involve parents, church leaders and mentors. Each week, more than one million kids, 250,000 volunteers and 300-plus field staff take part in Awana in over 17,000 churches in the U.S. and internationally . Awana® (taken from www.awana.org) AWANA at Batley: Batley is just now getting back into the AWANA program. After several years of construction projects it was just infeasible to continue the program. Now with plans to expand the youth programs at Batley we are going to include Awana in Batley's overall Goal of reaching Children and Teens with the Gospel of Christ. We are very excited about the prospect of a bigger and better Awana Club. At the time that the Club ended we were averaging over a 100 youngsters a week, we feel as if we can surpass this number. What an exciting time at Batley!
Every week in the opening ceremony we have a Penny Competition between the boys & the girls to see who can bring the most pennies. The clubbers love this competition, and look forward to the rivalry each week! The pennies are then used to buy materials for the clubbers such as their handbooks, vests, t-shirts, patches, etc., so that the clubbers do not have to pay for any of these items!
